CMT Music Awards may not take place in Austin’s Moody Center this year as Paramount Global pauses several major events amid its merger with Skydance Media.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Global is temporarily halting select 2025 events, including the CMT Music Awards, MTV EMAs, MTV MIAWs, and Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in Mexico. The decision was revealed in an internal memo from Paramount executive Bruce Gillmer.
“We are pausing a few events for 2025 as we look to reimagine and optimize our events slate going forward,” the memo stated.
Gillmer emphasized that the company remains committed to delivering high-impact music events, despite the temporary pause. “Our world-class events remain a key component of Paramount’s music offering as we continue to raise the bar in delivering iconic, unforgettable performances and moments that drive pop culture,” he said.
While no final decision has been announced regarding the CMT Awards, fans will have to wait for further updates on its future.
