Donald Trump is happy to be included.
After a British tabloid reported that King Charles III may offer the United States a spot in the Commonwealth—a collection of 56 nations that were previously under British rule—the president shared his thoughts on social media.
“I love King Charles,” Trump wrote in a March 21 post to his Truth Social platform, quoting an article from The Sun. “Sounds good to me!”
While Charles nor Buckingham Palace has acknowledged the rumor, Trump’s response comes a little over a month after he first imposed tariffs on goods included in the United States-Canada-Mexico Agreement.
In response to the tariffs, the Department of Finance Canada issued its own 25 percent tariff on $30 billion worth of goods imported from the U.S. March 4. Weeks later, Trump issued levies for his own tariffs, which will be extended until April 2.
As for what Trump has said about Canada amid the recent trade tension?
