The late Irrfan Khan & Nawazuddin Siddiqui have multiple unreleased films together

The late Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui have shared screen space in several films. They starred together in the critically acclaimed The Lunchbox, Paan Singh Tomar, New York and more. While their on-screen collaborations might not be as widely acknowledged as some other pairs, their chemistry and talent are undeniable. However, a lesser-known fact is that the two have worked on a couple of unreleased films.

There have been many instances where people have drawn comparisons between late Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. A close source revealed insights into the duo’s work together, saying, “The late Irfaan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui have worked together in about 8 or more films together; some of the projects that they have worked together on are The Lunchbox, Paan Singh Tomar, The Bypass, Aaja Nachle, New York. However, quite a few of them haven’t been released.”

So far, there is no confirmation on when and if these films will release.

Director Kabir Khan, who helmed New York, also recalled the day they filmed Nawazuddin’s monologue for the 2009 film and mentioned that it was his first time shooting abroad. The scene was a continuous three to four-minute take, and Kabir was so moved by Nawazuddin’s performance that he decided not to do another take. After the shoot, when Kabir showed the scene to the crew – some were in tears while others praised the actor.

“I remember Irrfan walking in half an hour later. He told me ‘everyone’s talking about Nawaz’s performance’. I took Irrfan to the monitor and I played it and as he was watching it, tears were streaming down Irrfan’s face. He asked ‘kaha hai yaar Nawaz (Where is Nawaz),’ went and hugged Nawaz. What a moment it was,” shared Kabir.
