Luke Combs is getting candid about his private mental health journey.
The “Beautiful Crazy” singer recently opened up about his struggles with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), including how the condition—which causes him to have intrusive thoughts—has affected him since the start of his career.
“It’s thoughts, essentially, that you don’t want to have,” Luke, 35, said in a Feb. 9 interview with 60 Minutes Australia. “They cause you [to be] stressed out, then the stress causes you to have more thoughts, and then you don’t understand why you’re having them. You’re trying to get rid of them, but [doing so] makes you have more of them.”
Despite having those plaguing thoughts, Luke said that he handles his OCD “really well.” But occasionally, his disorder—which he was first diagnosed with at 12-years-old—still sneaks up on him at unexpected moments, such as his two sold-out shows at Sydney’s Accor Stadium last month.
