For Anna Faris, “Mom” isn’t just a role she played on TV.

At home, the 48-year-old is, of course, mom to son Jack, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Pratt. And now that the 12-year-old is a preteen, their relationship has continued to evolve.

“Whenever my son—and he’s only done this a handful of times—but when he asks me for advice, or he reveals to me that he trusts me,” Anna shared in an exclusive interview with E! News, “I get sort of a flood of emotional gratitude and confirmation that I guess I’m doing something right.”

After all, motherhood doesn’t come with a playbook.

“I think as parents, we’re always questioning, you know, ‘What are we doing? Are we giving good guidance? Are we raising kids with a good foundation?’” the House Bunny actress explained. So when Jack turns to her for help, “Those indicators make me feel like, ‘Okay, I’m on the right path here.’ And I’m really proud of him.”
