Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna’s Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, was released in theatres on March 30, a day before Eid. The much-anticipated film saw Khan back on screens after 2 years. His last release was Tiger 3. Needless to say, the superstar’s fans were eagerly waiting to see him pack a punch on screen. It was estimated that the film would open to a collection of Rs 40-45 crore; however, the reality has turned out to be different.

Day 1 Box Office Report
As per Sacnilk, Sikandar earned Rs 26 crore on day 1 at the domestic box office. Currently, the website that tracks box office records has not updated the worldwide collection of the film. Sikandar had an overall 21.60% occupancy on the first day with major turnout from Chennai, Bengaluru and Jaipur. After Kissi Ka Bhai and Kissi Ki Jaan, and Radhe, this is another recent film of Khan to have a decent opening. Salman’s last film, Tiger 3, had a better collection than Sikandar and earned Rs 44.5 crore on Day 1. However, the low collections can also be attributed to the fact that the film was leaked online right before its release. With the Eid holiday on Monday, Sikandar’s collection is expected to rise. Notably, Sikandar has achieved the second-highest opening of 2025 till now.

Sikandar vs Chhaava
Rashmika Mandanna’s previous film with Vicky Kaushal, Chhaava, on the other hand, performed better on day 1 at the box office. The film, which is based on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, earned Rs 31 crore on day 1 making it the highest opener of 2025 till date.
Filmfare’s Review of Sikandar
Filmfare rated the film 2.5 out of 5 and said, “The film lacks a compelling narrative arc and offers a rather underwhelming experience. For all its flashy action and bombastic spectacle, Sikandar feels like a missed opportunity – a film where style far outweighs substance. If you’re after an intelligent thriller, prepare for disappointment. But if you came for Salman Khan’s swagger and his larger-than-life charisma, well, you’ll get exactly that.”
