Damon Wayans Sr. kept it all in the family. 

After his split from wife Lisa Thorner in 2000, the My Wife and Kids star admitted that he fell in love with someone new shortly after their split: His nephew’s girlfriend.

“I was in love with her,” Damon, 64, said on the Club Shay Shay podcast April 2. “But it wasn’t like they were in love. Do you know how small the pool is out here in Cali? The dating pool. And this was probably what, 2001, 2002.”

Damon Sr.—whose siblings include fellow actors Kenan Ivory Wayans, Kim Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans and five siblings who are out of the limelight—went on to share that his feelings for his nephew’s girlfriend were no joke. In fact, he revealed it was love at first sight when they met.

“I got divorced and I was by myself for two years and then I saw her, and I was just like, ‘Oh my God, I’m in love,’ the Poppa’s House star said. “And I found out my nephew had dated her. I’m like, ‘What’s up with that?’ He’s like, ‘That’s you.’ I’m like, ‘Okay, pass the Courvoisier.’ And I went ahead, and I fell in love. And it was okay.”
