Drew Barrymore is reflecting on going under the knife.
During a recent episode of the 50 First Dates star’s talk show, she detailed the reduction mammaplasty, or breast reduction, she underwent as a teenager while discussing breast cancer screening.
As she fielded questions about breast cancer with OBGYN Dr. Kameelah Phillips, Drew, 50, asked about a procedure she had done at just 17.
“What if someone’s had a reduction like me?” Drew asked. “What if someone has had implants or enhancements like a lot of people out there? How does any alteration of our bodies also play into that process?”
Phillips emphasized that imaging, in addition to a typical mammogram, would be an important thing for those who have had cosmetic procedures done on their breasts to consider. To which Drew clarified, “I always get a mammogram and an ultrasound, always both.”
She added, “I also know how fortunate and privileged that is.”
