Keanu Reeves will be back in the John Wick franchise
During the ongoing CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Lionsgate announced that Keanu Reeves will return as the relentless hitman in a fifth installment. Reeves and Stahleski are onboard as producers for the upcoming film. John Wick: Chapter 4 ended with the titular character’s death. The climax of the 2023 film was largely considered a fitting end for the film series. Having said that, Adam Fogelson, Lionsgate Motion Pictures group’s chairman, shared, “Keanu, Chad, Basil and Erica would not return unless they had something truly phenomenal and fresh to say with these characters and this world. We can’t wait for audiences to see where the journey takes us next.”

Other John Wick projects in the making
Lionsgate also announced an anime prequel that will flesh out the backstory of John Wick. It will also shed light on the “Impossible Task” that allowed him to leave the High Table. Shannon Tindle is directing the film with a script by Vanessa Taylor. Keanu will voice his character. Stahleski shared, “Anime has always been a huge influence on me, especially with the John Wick series. To develop a John Wick anime seems like the perfect progression.”

A John Wick spin-off focusing on the fan-favourite character Caine was also announced at CinemaCon. The film will mark Donnie Yen’s return as Caine and will revolve around the visually impaired assassin’s life after being released from the High Table. Yen is also attached as director. Production is expected to begin in Hong Kong towards the end of the year.
