New details in the investigation into Michelle Trachtenberg’s death have been uncovered.
Nearly two months after the Gossip Girl actress was found dead in her New York City apartment at age 39, her cause of death was ammended to be determined as “complications of diabetes mellitus,” the NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner confirmed to NBC News April 16.
For reference, diabetes mellitus is a condition where blood glucose (sugar) levels are too high because the body either doesn’t produce enough insulin or can’t use the insulin it produces effectively, according to Cleveland Clinic.
After completing a review of the original autopsy test results, the medical examiner also confirmed to NBC that her manner of death has been ruled as natural.
Trachtenberg was found dead in her home on the morning of Feb. 26 after officials responded to a 911 call.
Shortly after, the actress’ cause of death was ruled as “undetermined,” the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to E! News at the time. Trachtenberg’s family objected to an autopsy, according to People, citing the medical examiner’s office, which led to the ruling.
