Talking about the scene, Shukla explained that it was the first time Salman’s character, Devi Lal Singh, meets his girlfriend’s father. “Interestingly, the scene is written in such a way that he asks me about my salary, my savings, etc. So when I am asked that question, I reacted in a way that showed the audience that I was stumped and shocked by that question,” he shared. However, after the take, a staff member came up to him and suggested that he should act scared instead, assuming that Salman would prefer that reaction.
Shukla disagreed, trying to explain why fear wouldn’t make sense, but the assistant was insistent. “After the scene was shot, one of Salman’s assistants came up to me and said that I have to change my reaction in that scene. The assistant felt I should act scared in front of Salman’s Devi Lal Singh. While I tried to argue that such a reaction doesn’t make sense, his assistant pointed out that Salman might not like that reaction,” he recalled. Before things could escalate, Salman stepped in. “Salman called his assistant and asked him to not disturb me at all. He told him that my acting was on point, and it was the perfect response to the scene,” Shukla added.

Looking back, Shukla said that such situations can sometimes create unnecessary problems because staff members take matters into their own hands. “Salman liked it… but see how things could have become difficult,” he concluded. Released in 2014, Kick was a massive hit and marked Salman’s first â¹200 crore blockbuster. The action-packed entertainer remains one of his most loved films to this day.
