The Citadel franchise turned out to be one of the biggest hits of Amazon Prime Video. However, further seasons of the Indian and Italian spin-offs of the show have been cancelled. The original Citadel series starred Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden in lead roles, among others. The Indian spin-off, Citadel: Honey Bunny, stars Varun Dhawan and Samantha. It was released last year. Now, it is being reported that Citadel: Honey Bunny and the Italian offshoot, Citadel: Diana, have not been renewed for further seasons.
However, the main series starring Priyanka will return with its lead stars.
“Having successfully traversed India and Italy, storylines from both Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana will be woven into the upcoming second season of the mothership series Citadel,” said Vernon Sanders, the head of television at Amazon MGM Studios.
He continued, “While these successful and widely enjoyed international chapters will not continue as individual series, Season 2 of Citadel will be our most exhilarating yet. With high-stakes storytelling, new additions to our amazing cast and bold, cinematic ambition, the new season will deepen the emotional journeys of Nadia, Mason and Orlick against the relentless force that is Manticore. We’re excited to share what’s next when Citadel Season 2 premieres globally in Q2 of 2026.”
Citadel: Honey Bunny was directed by the director duo Raj & DK. It starred Samantha and Varun as spies, and also Nadia’s (Priyanka’s character) parents. The series also starred Saqib Saleem, Sikandar Kher, Soham Majumdar, Shivankit Parihar, and Kashvi Majmundar. Citadel Diana, on the other hand, starred Matilda De Angelis as the titular character, along with Lorenzo Cervasio, Maurizio Lombardi, Julia Piaton and Thekla Reuten among others. It was released last October.
